Excision/Biopsy

Skin biopsies and excisions are common procedures used to diagnose and treat suspicious skin lesions.

  • A biopsy involves taking a small sample of skin under local anaesthetic so it can be examined under a microscope. This helps confirm whether a mole or spot is benign or requires further treatment.
  • An excision is a minor surgical procedure used to remove abnormal or cancerous lesions entirely. Your GP will numb the area, remove the lesion along with a small margin of healthy skin, and close the wound with stitches. Excision is often both diagnostic and curative.

These procedures are quick, safe, and performed in our clinic with minimal downtime. Your doctor will provide aftercare instructions and arrange follow-up to ensure proper healing and discuss results.
